Events & Booking
The regional development team and local canoe clubs run a variety of events each year.  You can find events here organised by discipline, as well as those designed for introducing new people to the sport, and providing CPD to coaches.

Coaching

Picture
Without skilled, passionate and committed coaches paddlesports would not be enjoyed by as many people – whether weekend paddlers or dedicated athletes.
Cumbria Canoeists runs 'Coaching Matters' and 'Coaching & Mentoring the Coach' events, as well as grant assisting paddlers to obtain leader and coach qualifications to support the development of the sport locally.

Novice & Introductory Events

Picture
Sometimes it can be daunting and too committing to join a club to get started and see if you will enjoy canoeing.  You will find starter and Novice introductory events here that are a great way to sample the sport or new areas of it.  In addition we have a number of events that are aimed at Women & Girls, including some family events.

Booking Process:

Booking arrangements are made clear on individual event flyers and are all made on line.
Generally events are filled on a first come first served basis - but where there is pressure on places we will give preference to Cumbria based paddlers. We will indicate when events are filled. Refunds are not normally given if you cancel, but will be considered, if adequate notice is given, and the place can be filled.
To make a booking you complete the on line event booking form and pay in advance by BACS to
“Cumbria Canoeists” Sort Code 01-08-93 A/C# 14482177 (or by if that is impossible by cheque to the organiser as it adds a lot of admin!).
Please make sure the bank account information in your Paddler Registration is correct and add your surname and the event reference to the BACS payment or on the back of the cheque to help us keep track of payments.
If you are not a member of British Canoeing, we have to arrange membership equivalent liability insurance cover for you for on the water sessions (applies to all participants and guides). The cost is £5 per person per event; Alternatively, we would encourage BC adult membership at £45 or £65 for a couple per annum. Please add the insurance charge to the event fee payment.
The cost of the event covers expenses of the volunteer coaches/guides leading the event.  Any surplus monies are used to further develop the programme of paddling events in Cumbria.
We will only use information supplied by you for notifying, planning, and operating of events, meetings, and directly related matters. All personal data will be held securely, and any sensitive data will be held and transmitted in password controlled and encrypted formats.
Medical or other sensitive personal information will only be shared with event leaders who need to be aware of it for the safe execution of events and care of participants. If you would like to review any details held or have them removed, please contact the secretary of the Regional Development Team either directly or via any event organiser.

Paddler Registration:

You must register on line here if you wish to participate in any events organised by Cumbria Canoeists.
You only need to do this once, but you do need to keep this registration up to date for subsequent events.
