Saturday 25th January saw a number of coaches and leaders descend on Lakeside YMCA for this years live CPD event, thank you to Martin for making that possible.

Chris has created an Album here with some pictures of the day, he actually beat me to it so I've added my pictures in too.

Once again Mike pulled out all of the stops to ensure the day ran smoothly. Meeting from 8am the car park was soon full of cars with a variety of boats on top.
Those of use using the lake unloaded our boats before heading inside to register and get a hot drink. After an introduction to the day, updates from Darryl Shaw and Lee Pooley from Paddle UK and introductions to the coaches we all split off for our morning skills sessions.
Dan Wilkinson- Building a complete sea kayak paddler
Chris Brain- Learning to love SUPs
Lizzie Harrington- Efficient canoeing to help us look good and feel good for longer
Ian Adey- A moving water workshop on the River Leven

After a cold morning on the water we all returned to the YMCA building for soup and hot drinks. We had an extended lunch to allow networking and catching up with old friends.

In the afternoon we all took part in various dry sessions. I really enjoy discussing how we operate and what we do with other like minded coaches. Events like this really help us to reflect on what we do and how we do it. I think even the most seasoned amongst us (and that isn't me) can still take something away from these events.

Thank you to everyone involved in the day and the weather for playing it's part.

Please feel free to add your own comments about the day below.

Jamie
