Arisaig is a truly spectacular golden coast line with Skye, Rhum and distinctive An Sgùrr on Eigg out to the west. The skerries around the coast are Caribbean bright and clear in the sunlight, and offer fantastic wildlife and sheltered paddling in most conditions. It is a magical place to paddle. If the weather is fair it will be possible to paddle out and back to Eigg for the fitter paddlers, or we can explore down the coast further to Ardnamurcan. There are also locations nearby for sheltered paddling if conditions require. Being camped close to the beach means we can get out on the water in the evening and enjoy BBQ’s there too.
We will convene at 09h00 each morning to explain & plan the day trips, shuttles etc. There are lots of opportunities to paddle in this area and we will choose day trips and crossings that are suitable to the experience of the groups, the weather and the tides. We may divide up if it makes sense to do so. We will have three full days of paddling with a further shorter day on Monday (finish by 15h00) to allow people to get away on their return journeys.
See Doug Cooper & George Reid’s guide “Scottish Sea Kayaking - Fifty Great Sea Kayak Voyages. Trips 10 & 11 are in this area.

We will choose day trips that are suitable to the experience of the groups and the weather. Our main objectives of the weekend are to bring likeminded sea paddlers together, share experiences, have a great social family event and make the contacts necessary for further trips. For those with less experience the weekend is an opportunity for you to be guided safely to coastal areas you may not feel are within your reach or current experience. We may divide up if it makes sense to do so.
This weekend is not a coaching course but you will be safely guided by experienced and qualified sea kayak leaders who will help you learn new skills.
This event is suitable for paddlers with some sea-kayaking experience journeying on the coast, including those who are looking to improve their independence to plan and execute coastal trips. If you have doubts whether your capabilities and experience are sufficient please talk to the organiser.
Maximum 16 participants. This event is open to Cumbrian paddlers – or friends of – with an interest in sea kayaking who would like to extend and develop their skills and experience.
