Terms and conditions of borrowing canoes, kayaks and equipment
- A request from the Cumbria club/organisation management is made in writing (e-mail) to the appropriate RDT Rep (this request can only be from an individual on their own behalf when the loan is required for an RDT event). This should include details of the event, duration and dates of the loan and give details of the leaders and/or coaches who will be responsible for running the event.
- Collection transport and return arrangements will be the responsibility of the borrowing organisation and must be negotiated with the RDT Rep.
- The equipment is not for hire - but a donation is requested to cover the depreciation and wear of the kayak and equipment – this is suggested to be a minimum of £15 a day (£10 for half day) per boat, £30 for a weekend. NO charge for equipment loan for juniors (under 18yrs) or in full time education. In cases of hardship or other mitigating factors the need for any donation may be waived at the discretion of the RDT. Donations should be made by BACS transfer to the Cumbria Canoeist account before equipment is collected. Late return of equipment could imply further loan periods.
- Borrowers are expected to treat all boats and equipment with due care. Equipment is to be returned clean and dry and kayaks washed down inside/out, especially if used in salt water.
- If any items are damaged or lost during use, borrowers will be expected to make good or replace them. The appendix in the regional policy indicates the estimated costs of replacement or repair. Paddlers will be deemed to have implicitly agreed to this obligation when they borrow equipment.
