Youth River Running days currently scheduled: Please see the calendar below.
Target Group:
Youth paddlers 13-18 yrs. with some kayaking experience.
Objective:
Some Cumbrian clubs are unable to introduce young people to white water river running. In the last three years we have offered teenagers autumn / winter coached opportunities to get out on appropriate Cumbrian rivers, and we're doing it again this year.
These will be on local grade 2/3 rivers eg: Lune, Eamont, Leven, Eden, Tees, Tees Barrage generally arranged on weekends or during school holidays. We may also add some further opportunist trips at short notice depending on water and weather conditions.

Cost: There are no direct event costs, but to join these events participants must be youth or young person members of British Canoeing. This costs £27 or £35 annually respectively. Membership details and advantages are here. If participants share transport a fuel contribution will be expected.
Using the right kayak and gear is very important, so if you do not have this please borrow or hire one from a club or commercially. Cumbria Canoeists have white water kayaks and gear that are available for a small donation. Personal paddling equipment, adequate gear, a change of clothes, food and drink for each day’s paddle are essential. If wetsuits are not available from home, we will ensure participants have the use of a long john wetsuit for river runs.
Before you can book on any Cumbria Canoeist's event you must have completed a one time Paddler Registration and if under 18 return a Parent or Guardian Consent form to the organiser.
